Welcome to West Michigan Trails, where the future of our regional trail network is taking shape through collaborative efforts!
The Regional Trails Master Plan for West Michigan—a plan for non-motorized, multi-use pathways connecting West Michigan communities and destinations—was successfully completed in October 2024.
This achievement would not have been possible without the support and feedback from the communities and residents of West Michigan. Their input was essential in shaping a trail system that genuinely reflects the needs and desires of our 18-county region.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the project!
The project kicked off in October 2023 with the West Michigan Trail Summit. The event brought together stakeholders from across the region to discuss current and planned regional trails, emphasizing the importance of connectivity and consistent trail wayfinding.
The Spring Trail Summit was held in March 2024, where we meet with stakeholder sub-region groups to present the trail impact analysis and discuss priorities. Links to the presentation and meeting summaries are available for download at the bottom of the page.
Public input was gathered during the summer, followed by the final planning document in the fall of 2024.
