Grand Region Nonmotorized Plan

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is working to develop a regional nonmotorized plan and new bike maps for the Grand Region to serve as tools, not only for MDOT staff, but also for the vast number of stakeholders, agencies and organizations in the region. The main goals of the plan are to:

  • Document the existing and proposed nonmotorized network in the 13-county region

  • Use as a tool to help prioritize nonmotorized investment in the region

  • Continue to foster cooperative planning across municipal/county boundaries

  • Understand what exists and what is planned so everyone’s efforts can be coordinated

  • Includes development of new Grand Region bike maps

The project began in June 2016 and is slated to be completed by August 2017.
